A very simple pattern yes, but a super effective pattern. Some of us are always looking for a “better” pattern, when sometimes experimenting with the “old-school” patterns is more effective. Change them up slightly and you may find a new-old pattern. Look at your flash, look at your bead size, maybe your body material, hackle color, or maybe as simple as your presentation. Without a single doubt, i have caught more fish on this pattern than any other. The way i present it changes, and that is why this is so effective. Whether i dead-drift it, swing it, dead drift then swing, or strip it in a multitude of ways, it almost always catches fish. The example above is white, but i catch them on white ones, brown ones, olive, and black. Bottom line… these catch fish consistently. Size is usually a 10, but Kevin is a “Big Bugger Chucker”, size 4’s and such. Have faith in the wooly, especially in cold weather, it will produce or it will tell you that it is “BEER THIRTY”. If they dont work, chances are you should be doing something else at this point-in-time. Get tying now, spring is for fishing.
